its not too late, to whap it, whap it good
To the untrained eye, it could have been an elaborate cake tin, but to a Vespanado it was just a rusty old Vespa recieving a rebirth. A good day of welding, beating and unbumping bumperised metal was recently had and even my niece and nephew latched onto the theme as they worked upon their go kart, (when they were tired of posing for the camera).

Another couple of sessions and it will almost be in paint mode. But which colour, hmm!?...

That pea green is a terrible colour.

I suggest:

1. A nice deep glossy cream colour, with small and tastefully understated chrome bumpers;

2. Glossy black; or

3. The gunmetal you mentioned, but don't make it matte. Otherwise your precious restoration project will start to look like some sort of ratbike!

Your right, I've gone off the pea green - although the actual colour was more of a fluro yellow with a dash of green to confuse the eye.

Cream colour - hmm, but boring
Black - good, but um, too dark?

These are my current thoughts:

1. Gunmetal - butch enough not to be mistreated as a pansy, but essentially will lack a bit of colour. Definately not matte!

2. Light metallic blue - I saw a nice light blue/purple which was highly metallic and a touch dark/grey and it looked good.

3. A brightish metallic silver.

Cream or black scoots are a dime a dozen, I've got three parked on my street. True, the street isn't in Adelaide but nonetheless...boring.
I think the blue/purple you mention sounds the standout option.

Hi Drew,

i just spend 2 weeks of holiday under the Alpine, so DON'T talk about rust to me. :-) DON'T!

How about a glossy aubergine? Goes very nice with chrome and maybe creamy white lines.

Keep going.. :-)

I also vote for Aubergine.

Hah, hey Jörn!

My rust is all fixed up now and its awaiting a bit of work before painting.

My current thinking is........ titanium silver, its a BMW colour and whilst it is silver in bright light it goes a whitey/silver under difused light - looks really good.

As for your French rust, ugh, you should take some photos of it! *8)

Ill have to send you some shots of your Alpine that I took - if I already haven't.
